The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.

Dietary Supplement Health

There are many good reasons to take a dietary supplement health product. In today's fast-paced lifestyle we are less likely eat a well balanced diet. As we try to pack more and more activities into our daily lives we are also increasing the stress on our bodies.  There are also several other factors which may lead to a deficiency of vitamins in the body including people who smoke, consume alcohol, people who take some medications, and people who are dieting.  Prolonged vitamin deficiency can potentially lead to serious health issues.

In this article we're going to talk about vitamins with an emphasis on Vitamin D.  A good place to start would be to understand, what is a vitamin ?  Vitamins are an organic compound that organisms need, do not produce enough of, and must be consumed for growth and development. Each vitamin is essential for the human body and most deficiencies will have some sort of effect on our bodies. Vitamins should not be confused with dietary minerals such as calcium, fatty acids such as omega-3, or amino acids such as tryptophan. There are thirteen different types of known vitamins that humans need which are vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, C, D, E, and K. Be sure to note that vitamins effect people differently usually based on age and health and you should do your research on dietary supplemnt health products and follow up with informative reading.

Vitamin D
Swanson Premium BrandHigh Potency Vitamin D-3Vitamin D comes in two forms that are used by the body.  Vitamin D2 and vitamin D3.  While these chemical compounds are closely related with only a minor difference, the chemicals themselves come from very different sources.  Vitamin D2 is primarily obtained from fruits and vegetables while vitamin D3 is obtained from animal products.  Vitamin D3 is also the form that human beings are able to manufacture themselves using sunlight.

In fact, because it was found out the human beings can create vitamin D for themselves, many have suggested that vitamin D is not a vitamin at all, but is instead a hormone.  Vitamin D is also very different from most indigestible items in that the form that comes from animals is far healthier than the form that comes from plants.  The plant form, vitamin D2, is broken down by the body and some of the byproducts are dangerous to the body in large amounts.  The other major difference between vitamin D3 and Vitamin D2 is that vitamin D3 has a much longer shelf life so that most vitamin supplements are more effective if they use the form made from animal byproducts.

Vitamin D´s main function is to regulate the levels of calcium found in the blood.  Vitamin D accomplishes this by adding calcium to, or taking calcium from our bones.  Because of this function, diseases or illnesses that affect vitamin D lead to abnormal bone density and bone growth problems like seen in rickets.  Vitamin D is also the controller of phosphorous distribution in the body, and does so in a similar way as it does with calcium.

As vitamin D has a direct relationship with calcium, most deficiencies of vitamin D result in problems with bones and teeth such as osteoporosis.  Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it requires fat in the food we eat in order to be absorbed properly.  For this reason, 2% milk is recommended over skim milk.  Diets that severely limit fat intake can cause severe problems with bone density and calcium regulation in the body.

Vitamin D is found in a large number of foods, but the sources that supply the greatest quantities include milk, cheese, eggs and most meats.  Vitamin D is also found in most fruits and vegetables, but in much lower amounts.  It is important that if a dietary supplement health product is taken that contains vitamin D, special care should be taken to ensure that the source of the vitamin D is from animal sources, or that the label specifically identifies it as vitamin D3.

As you can see, getting the vitamins that your body needs is important. By taking dietary supplement health products every day you can assist in the process of getting the recommended amount of each vitamin and get on with that busy lifestyle.

Each blade of grass has its spot on earth whence it draws its life, its strength; and so is man rooted to the land from which he draws his faith together with his life.

Wise Vitamin & Mineral Dietary Supplement Health Product Intake

Although nature intended for us to receive the needed vitamins and minerals through food consumption, the changes that have been occurring in people's lifestyles, working environments, free time and rest hours, have tremendously altered their dietary habits and thus, the quantity of vitamin and mineral intake. In order to resolve this recent negative development, physicians and researchers have been advising people to take vitamin and mineral dietary supplement health products. Although governments set guidelines of how much of each vitamin and mineral people should take in order to stay within the safe range, many people believe these levels are too low and consume larger doses of vitamins thinking that they are doing good with this extra vitamin and mineral intake.

The Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA's) for each vitamin and mineral have been set by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences. The recommended doses were based on studies completed more than 25 years ago to see how much of each vitamin and mineral the human body needed and how much people received from foods. But exactly because the guidelines are now more than one quarter of a century old, some people think that the RDA's need to be increased as they consider them antiquated. In fact, in recent years some RDA's, such as Vitamin C, have been increased. But the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been slow and hesitant to increase others because of studies that indicated taking more is not always better.

Vitamins are nutrients required for essential metabolic reaction in the body and along with minerals are extremely important substances in fighting disease and curing many ailments. Until the 1900s, vitamins could only be obtained by eating food, but many people today believe vitamin and mineral dietary supplement health products can stop the aging process, prevent or even heal cancer, grow back hair, ease arthritis, prevent Alzheimer's disease, and many other health related conditions. People are spending absolutely billions of dollars on vitamin and mineral dietary supplement health products at pharmacy stores, health food stores, and online

Researchers are now studying if taking dietary supplement health products above the recommended levels is actually detrimental. Some results have shown that while a few vitamins might be unhealthy if taken above their recommended levels, others are not.  The best approach to vitamin and mineral dietary supplement health products is to only take what is a prudent dose. In case you think you need to take more for some reason, then it is best if you consult with your doctor who is familiar with your exact health history and can give you expert advice.

I wish you success in your quest to live your life on your terms.

Dietary Supplement Health Products & You

Did you know that a dietary supplement health product or a nutritional supplement health product could change your life? Most people have heard of dietary supplement health products even if they have never used them. They are talked about on TV, the internet, the radio, on the news and in magazines. Health is a major concern in the United States and vitamin and mineral intake are quickly moving to the top of the preventative care list. It's just harder these days to get the proper amount of nutrition you need everyday from just the regular foods you eat. Millions of consumers depend on dietary supplement health products daily to provide the nutrients not included in their daily diet for various reasons...nutrients that are needed to attain and maintain optimum health.

Vitamins and minerals are naturally occurring substances necessary for many processes in the body. They are used by our bodies for various vital functions and can affect us mentally and physically if we do not get enough of the right ones. Vitamins and minerals are needed in small but steady amounts for normal growth, certain body functions and general good health. To insure that you are getting an adequate amount of vitamins and minerals to achieve certain body functions you may need a dietary supplement health product.

While vitamin and mineral intake should be achieved, to the extent possible by the foods included in your diet, this is becoming harder to accomplish due to mineral depletion of the soil that our food supply is grown in. Vitamin and mineral content in a typical diet are not at the same levels they were a couple of generations ago. This brings many to the decision to add a dietary supplement health product to their food intake to make sure they get all the nutrients they need.

The list below of just a few nutrients are examples of the known and possible advantages of their use:

- Vitamin C provides antioxidant to cells, and may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer.

POTASSIUM:  Works with sodium to regulate the body's water balance and normalize heart rhythms.

- Vitamin E may reduce free radical damage and cut the risk of diabetes, and cancer.

IRON: Essential for life, necessary for the production of hemoglobin.

- Vitamin A helps support mucous membranes, and the skin.

CALCIUM: There is more calcium in the body than any other mineral.

- Selenium may help protect against prostate cancer and is known as an anti-aging nutrient.

MAGNESIUM: Known as the anti-stress mineral.

- Coenzyme Q10 may help generate energy for metabolism.

IODINE: Stimulates energy.

- Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart and the nervous system.

What Some of the Experts are saying about Dietary Supplement Health Products:

The DSEA (Dietary Supplement Education Alliance) found in a recent study that certain dietary supplement health products helped seniors to live longer and to live more independent lives.

Further evidence of dietary supplement benefits are acknowledged by the DSIB (Dietary Supplement Information Bureau) who also reported that nutritional supplement health products help people live longer, healthier lives.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) recently issued a health claim for omega-3 fatty acids. Several other dietary supplement health products are scheduled to be added to the list in the near future.

A dietary supplement health product isn't meant to be food substitutes, as they can't replicate all of the nutrients and benefits of whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Remember...You still have to eat healthy. Get as many vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids in your diet as is possible and you might also consider taking a dietary supplement health product to make-up for nutrients that are lacking. People that exercise, eat a healthy diet and use a dietary supplement health product might save themselves money in healthcare costs because they generally tend to have a more healthy life.

I wish you success in your quest to live your life on your terms.

Herbal Dietary Health Supplement Guide

Herbal Supplements, what are they and what do they do?

Are you thinking about adding a herbal dietary health supplement to your diet to improve the quality of your nutrition? If so, it is good that you are taking the time to read about them. It is important so you can make informed decisions about whether a herbal dietary health supplement is a good health choice for you.

Many people know they do not eat a balanced, nutritious diet and fear for their health. They feel that adding a dietary health supplement or herbal supplements to their daily eating regiment will add the needed nutrients to their diet. One of the most common mistakes people make is sometimes mistaking nutrition herb supplements for dietary herbal supplements.

Nutrition herb supplements provide you with the nutrients your body needs. There are six main nutrients the body needs to receive daily. These nutrients include carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and water. It is important to consume these six nutrients daily to build and maintain a healthy body.

Dietary herbal supplements are designed to help you lose weight by suppressing your appetite. Some will block carbs, control carb cravings, boost energy levels and block fats. Others are designed to suppress your appetite, boost your metabolism, burn fat and give you energy. While taking weight loss supplements, when you eat it is important that your diet is nutritious and balanced.

Let's talk about purchasing  a herbal dietary health supplement product for a moment. Before heading out to your favorite grocery store, health food store, or shopping online you should do some research. You should specifically identify your personal need and indentify a dietary health supplement that is identified with helping that need. You might even want to research different manuacturers of the supplement you've chosen and compare both product information and company reputation.

Manufacturers of dietary, nutrition herb supplements often ask that their products be tested. If they meet the standards established by the U.S Pharmacopeia, they are allowed to place the USPS Dietary Supplement Verified Seal on their product. Other groups that certify herbal supplements include:

1) Good Housekeeping
2) ConsumerLab.com
3) NSF International (National Sanitization Foundation)

Then there is the FDA, the US Federal Drug Administration. Supplements that are made using Good Manufacturing Practices set forth by the FDA, and strict FDA guidelines are considered safe and effective.

Although you buy herbal supplements that have been tested by one of these organizations, and they carry their seal or certificate, or the approval by the FDA, you cannot rely on supplements for counteracting poor and unhealthy eating habits. There is no supplement that will work as well as changing your dietary lifestyle.

If you are taking prescription drugs, you need to be even more cautious about the supplements you take. You have already passed the stage of prevention and are in the treatment stage. Herbal supplements are known to prevent and treat illnesses and should be used under a doctor's supervision if you currently take prescription drugs.

There are unique, safe and effective herbal supplemental products available for certain conditions that help people supplement their lives. As well as herbal weight loss products there are products for women's health, men's health, skin care and general health products.

If you are thinking about using a herbal dietary health supplement as an alternative to prescription drugs, use caution that the supplements you are taking meet quality standards.

Seven Suggestions to consider when buying herbal dietary or nutritious supplements online are:

1) Check how long they have been selling herbal supplements online, as usually the longer the better.

2) Do they have about me, faqs, testimonial, ingredients pages etc?

3) Products on their website should contain a full description. Check when you receive the product the description matches or exceeds the information on the website.

4) What guarantees do they offer?

5) Subscribing to a newsletter is a good sign.

6) Shipping worldwide.

7) Be careful of herbal supplements made outside the U.S.

Following the suggestions should give you a good idea of the company you are dealing with. But be a good consumer and let your antenna go up when a product's claim is too good to be true.

It's important to remember that whatever promises made by the manufacturer concerning the supplements you are taking they are not instant fixes, they need time to work and need your help to work. You have to stay the course and follow the recommended dosage level, and the advice given by the manufacturer of the herbal dietary health supplement.

A nutritional dietary health supplement will help improve your health regardless of what you eat, but taken in combination with a well-rounded diet, your health can achieve even higher levels. It could take months before you get the full benefit, but depending on your condition and the product you use you could see or feel results within week's even days.
